Experienced Java Web Developer

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join our technical team. This role is working on an internally built java CMS and ecommerce solution based on Hibernate and will be supporting clients in changes, updates and new features for their web sites. This job is for someone who likes to get their hands dirty, solve problems and is happy working with other people’s code. This is a six month contract post initially.

The ideal candidate will have a 2-3 years proven web development experience in a commercial online environment. They should have experience in the development of scalable web applications and their underpinning application service delivery frameworks.

The candidate should have expert knowledge in:

• Object oriented software development in Java
• Technical experience in a team environment as a programmer with excellent self motivated problem solving abilities.
• Strong experience with SOA Web architecture and Web design and development tools
• Developing and implementing web facing technical solutions in a J2EE web environment around the Spring 2.5+ framework
• Worked with the Velocity or Freemaker templating engine
• Understanding of the dependency injection framework
• Understanding of developing N-tiered applications, with multi-tier architectures using Terracotta & Ehcache.
• Understanding of HTML/CS/JS client/server interaction and fundamentals of XLST
• Exposure to technologies such as Lucene, Solr, JCR, Maven, Mercurial, Git and Jenkins
• Proven knowledge of databases, including solid experience of SQL in PostgresSQL and MySQL
• Working knowledge of testing frameworks such as JUnit and continuous integration systems.
• Understanding of application interaction within the Apache / Tomcat environment.
• Exposure to Node.js, Redis, Facebook API's and oAuth a bonus

The candidate should hold a Computer Science (or related technical) initial degree. All candidates will be expected to answer technical questions and demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

Salary: Competitive, according to experience
