the OTHER media is proud to reveal its new iPhone Application for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. The first iPhone app to be offered by the Royal Academy is available to buy in the iTunes store for £2.99.
The Summer Exhibition app is great for visitors attending the exhibition and also for art enthusiasts, further afield, who can’t get to London to see the artworks in person. With full image information for over 180 featured works from this year’s exhibition and innovative ways to explore the artworks via the iPhone, this is a great application for art lovers.
The application enables the user to interact with the Summer Exhibition in a variety of ways including a quick details lookup using the artwork number, simple sliding through the images and ‘shake to shuffle’ functionality, which shows a randomly-selected image after you gently shake your iPhone. Tapping on the image reveals information about artist, artwork name, gallery location, materials used and price (if the item is available to buy).
Other useful features include audio tours for each of the Royal Academy’s 14 galleries; the saving of images to a favourites folder and handy visitor information, such as ticket prices, opening times and directions to help visitors plan a trip to the Royal Academy of Arts, Summer Exhibition 2009.
