Google has launched a new charitable initiative, Google Grants. The scheme rewards eligible charities with free Adwords advertising costs. We've written a quick overview explaining the basics of eligibility and the application procedure: for more detailed info visit www.google.co.uk/grants
Eligibility
To qualify for a Google Grant you will need to be a UK charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator or Inland Revenue. If you are already running a Google AdSense programme or have religious/political affiliations you are not eligible for a Grant. Google considers each application separately, thus you will need to decide internally whether to apply.
Application procedure
There is an application form to fill in, which you can find on www.google.co.uk/grants Your application is more likely to succeed if you have a basic understanding of Google AdWords and have read the Google Grants guidelines. The application form also asks for sample keywords, advert copy and a brief statement about how your organisation would benefit from participating in the Google Grants scheme. Be warned: Google can take up to six months to process your Grant application.
