Introducing English Eccentrics

English Eccentrics is a London-based fashion label that creates uniquely different clothing and accessories for men and women, as well as an interior range comprising furniture, prints and soft furnishings.

The challenge

English Eccentrics wanted an engaging, attractive and user-friendly website to take their brand online. The design had to be striking yet simple, bringing English Eccentrics clothes to life and providing a high quality online experience to match their offline service. A powerful Content Management System (CMS), giving full control of the site and facilitating an easy order process for dispatch staff, was also crucial.

What we did

We recognised immediately that the website’s look and feel was going to be vital to English Eccentrics and thus created a fast loading, user-centred, accessible site which embodied the English Eccentrics character. We used striking photography of the fabrics and models to create interest and quirkiness on-site, rather than sophisticated animation which can often hinder the shopping process and frustrate users. By customising OTHERobjects (our CMS) and integrating it with English Eccentrics’ backend systems, we were able to create one single system to accurately record stock levels.

The results

English Eccentrics now has a multi-faceted website, with an advanced search that lets visitors search by genre and colour. Cross-referencing between products and matching suggestions from Helen David, the designer, add value for the customer and aid decision support. Checkout is smooth and intuitive, whilst items like the sketchbook archive and Helen’s Diary add interest and encourage return visits. The focus is now on driving traffic to this newly built site to spread the word about English Eccentrics online.
