Sparkling new website design for Coutts London Jewellery Week 2009

the OTHER media is pleased to reveal its sleek and accessible new website for Coutts London Jewellery Week 2009 www.londonjewelleryweek.co.uk. Scheduled for 8-14 June, Coutts London Jewellery Week showcases excellence in jewellery design, giving behind the scenes access to some of the world’s finest designers and fresh new talent.
In this first phase of the Coutts London Jewellery Week project, our objective was to create a clean and eye-catching design, able to translate the excitement and glamour of the weeklong festival into visual form. We began the design process with a comprehensive information architecture scoping stage: profiling users, mapping their journeys, creating the sitemap for all phases and developing detailed wireframes.
Getting the information architecture and user experience right was a key goal for Jewellery Week organisers. Client-side Project Manager, Dawn Gay, explains: “With the potential for several hundred events during London Jewellery Week in June, it is absolutely essential to make it as easy as possible for users to find what they want, while also encouraging journeys to unexpected and interesting content.”
Alex Barnett, Project Manager at the OTHER media, continues “The London Jewellery Week website is interesting in that it has to fulfill the needs of a variety of audience segments including B2B, B2C and the press. Inside each category there are also further sub-groups, for example in the B2C category there are collectors, casual purchasers, tourists, interested visitors etc. The site structure and design has to immediately capture the attention of each user group, leading them on clear journeys to their required outcomes.”
This is a phased project with further functionality, navigation and content planned for the coming months. Phase one, which included the new design, IA and build of the content management system was delivered to deadline in just five weeks. Future phases will see the addition of an interactive calendar of events, blogs, videos, content management for traders and a number of mashups.
Dawn is delighted with the progress made in this first phase. “The site has been well received with lots of positive feedback both internally and externally. I'm also impressed by the level of creativity that the OTHER media sustained, given the very short timeline, and look forward to working with the team throughout 2009.”
